HSE Manager
 
The HSE Manager is responsible for leading and facilitating all HSE activities of the site.
The role holder ensures that all regulatory provisions and group requirements are applied and manages the creation and implementation of the site HSE Organisational improvement plan. The
role will be pivotal in maintaining operational and systemic compliance to OHAS 18001,
ISO14001 and ISO 50001 equivalence.
They play a key role in advising and collaborating with site management and operational staff to deliver the HSE requirements across the business.
 
Responsibility:
Advisor to the Senior Leadership Team about the HSE Standards, Support any project following the change management requirements (i.e. Chemical, General and ergonomic risk assessments, energy etc.). Comment with in CAPEX requests to ensure HSE compliance. Coordinate HSE projects
 
Management of Auditors&ndash BSI, external agencies, local government, watercompany etc.
Drives HSE mind-set across the business ensuring that all regulatory and group requirements are applied consistently
o Ensures operational, engineering and support staff fully implement HSE obligations.
o Enforce HSE mandatory obligations of all staff.
o Update the list of HSE qualified or accredited staff.
o Have a strong presence on site working with the operational and engineering team.
o Implement monitoring and reporting methods adapted to local circumstances
o Manage HSE audits and inspection processes.
o Suggest, review and monitor correct and preventative actions
o Ensure we are compliant with requirements, evaluate and highlight risks and advise of potential mitigation. Monitor the risk level of the site. Highlight to the senior leadership team any high potential of loss deviation and risks.
o Monitor emerging, new and revised legislation to assess its impact on the business.
Manage the creation and implementation of the site HSE Organisational improvement plan (HSE roadmap)
o In partnership with the operational staff, identify any significant dangers and hazards and any significant environmental aspects and impacts and monitor them
o Establish HSE action plans to achieve set objectives and targets, monitor their application 
o Manage a portfolio of HSE improvement projects
Advise and partner site management and operational staff to deliver HSE objectives
o Implement group tools, methods and procedures and identify potential improvements
o Create and deliver the HSE training.
o Maintain documentation for the HSE management system and ensure that it is embedded across the site.
o Prepare and facilitate the management review HSE actions.
o Partner with the business areas to help deliver HSE activities.
o Assess operational issues and be able to put them into writing in partnership with business area.
Act as HSE focal point
Delivery of regular HSE reporting
Skills & Requirements
o Recognised HSE qualification minimum of NEBOSH diploma level or equivalent
o Working knowledge of UK HSE legislation within a manufacturing environment or engineering
development environment and site expert in HSE matters
o Technical knowledge and experience of leading audits
o Proven experience of change management
o Knowledge and mastery of HSE reference systems including ISO14001
o Project management experience and the ability to manage a cross-functional indirect team
o Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating HSE training
o Strong Microsoft office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
o Proven influencer and credible HSE partner
o Ability to work independently and show initiative but also team working as needed
o Open minded with good communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of
the organisation
o Ability to contribute new ideas and positive energy acting as an ambassador for HSE
o Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner and proven ability to meet deadlines
