Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning Manager


                            This role is in place to manage the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process, Ensuring alignment across all associated functions in the organisation including sales, planning, procurement and operations. Furthermore, the role will be required to manage the inventory forecasts and action plans to meet agreed days of sales targets.

- Area of responsibility &ndash

Functionally reporting into the Supply Chain organisation, this role will require to co-ordinate activity across planning, operations, procurement and finance

Responsible for aligning the output planning in line with the sales budget and ensuring the business meets its inventory targets &ndash circa £30m in 2017

This role is a key position within the business and therefore the job holder is expected to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels within the business.

Principal Accountabilities

- To have a balanced resource and capacity plan that delivers the sales output in line with customer and business requirements, planning over a 24 month horizon with a rolling forecast for the business' mid-term plan

- Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels at various stages in the supply chain in order to achieve customer satisfaction levels as well as mitigate inventory exposure

- Collaborate with Programs, Engineering, Customer Support, Planning, Procurement and Finance to ensure that the appropriate data is available and accurate to establish the company's Supply plan

- Align forecasting, master production scheduling, inventory management to the MTP

- Identification of areas for improvement within the current business processes

- Manage actions associated with keeping within budget influence and engage with other stakeholders as needed to support this process

- Understand the risks and opportunities within the plan and ensure these are appropriately mitigated


Candidate skills & requirements  

- Must have a strong background and understanding of Supply Chain processes with a significant experience in a

Sales and Operations planning role

- Certification in APICS or related accreditation would be advantage

- Experience of working with inventory models

- Experience with ERP (preferably SAP) and planning tools is essential

- Must be computer literate and easily able to deal with figures, tables, and databases

- Excellent data analysis skills, able to make decisions and recommendations to key stakeholders

- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to work cross functionally

- Good negotiation skills in order to stretch the system and to find solutions

- Pragmatic, ability to manage priorities, autonomous, team player

- Strong people skills and the ability to influence others

- Experience in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing/engineering environment would be advantageous

- Demonstrated credibility and experience at senior management level
