Senior Buyer (NPI)
A key member of a multi discipline project team, providing the interface with the Supply Chain and Programme team to manage the parts acquisition process for new products from initial design to handover of a stable supply chain into production.
SOURCING INPUT TO PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT
&bull Work within the project team to drive effective implementation of Design to Cost methodology.
&bull Supply up to date project cost information to the Sourcing Manager
&bull To seek and exploit opportunities for cost reduction within the project whilst ensuring Commodity strategies are maintained whilst maximising cash flow.
&bull To manage design changes with Suppliers to ensure any costs and obsolescence incurred are minimised whilst maintaining delivery in line with project requirements.
&bull Place and expedite orders in line with Project requirements, managing Supplier's capacity constraints in line with the dynamic environment of design and development.
&bull To ensure parts are available for build in a timely fashion, expediting where necessary.
&bull Risk Analysis &ndash Identification and resolution of supply issues in order to meet business commitments,
&bull Preparation and issue of Bid Packages where required
&bullNegotiation of prices, terms and conditions and agreements supporting the Sourcing manger
&bull Maintenance of Supply Chain performance measures within the project plans
&bull To assist with MRP maintenance, to include part # creation and planning parameter loading.

&bull Use Design to cost methodology
&bull To ensure that programmes comply with sourcing strategies and rules defined by commodity teams.
&bull To provide rolling cost data for project showing current and future state.
&bull To make value based decisions in both placing orders and management of supply to project needs.
&bull To ensure that development and supply agreements are structured in line with customer terms and programme objectives.
&bull To ensure that all customers related sourcing restriction's are understood and complied with.
&bull To take a very proactive approach to aggressive cost reduction and design influence.
&bull Deputise for the program sourcing manager where required
Candidate skills & requirements
&bull Good understanding of engineering ( mechanical or Electronics) and ability to influence designs
&bull Demonstrated commercial awareness / ability
&bull Good interpersonal skills, and ability to apply them within an engineering / design / manufacturing environment.
&bull Ability to work with the minimum of supervision within a multifunctional team
&bull Demonstrable purchasing/sourcing experience within a manufacturing industry in either:
&bull Aerospace / Medical / Automotive ( Low volume niche manufacturing )
&bull Demonstrated high level of ability and aptitude
&bull Good PC skills, confident with use of MRP systems and Spreadsheets
&bull Demonstrated problem solving skills
&bull Proven experience in liaising with customers or suppliers
