Our client is a major multinational company which develops a wide range of cutting edge automotive technology for most of the major car manufacturers.  Employing over 60,000 staff in 28 countries worldwide, they are the market leaders in their field.
At their Galway (Ireland) site they research, design and manufacture innovative camera systems to improve both safety and driving comfort.  Due to the company's rapid expansion and growing order book they urgently require a Vision Feature Development & Application Engineer.
A Vision feature is a customer function relating to Automotive Vision Systems and can be related to either Scene Viewing (e.g. BirdView camera) or Scene Processing (e.g. Pedestrian Detection).

·         Review customer requirements and translate into internal systems & software requirements specifications
·         Complete conformity matrices relating to customer requirements for your assigned function during the RFQ phase
·         Coordinate with Systems Architects, Software Architects, Software and Test engineers to ensure full planning, implementation and traceability of requirements relating to your assigned function
·         Develop and maintain development plans for your assigned function within a project
·         Generate, maintain & take ownership of FMEAs relating to your function
·         Participate in various roject Teams and report on relevant function development activities and performance as appropriate
·         Generate & maintain PDCA/FTA documentation on issues relating to your assigned function
·         Generate & maintain Acceptance Test Plans for your assigned function
·         Perform regular tests on your assigned function with a focus on in-vehicle tests & assessment
·         Participate in OEM Customer Workshops to review, test and plan next steps relating to your assigned function
·         Participate in design reviews where appropriate
·         Develop relationships with the relevant Function Owners & Systems architects at OEM customers with a view to influencing and responding to their needs
·         Assist Business Dev. Dept with Feasibility Studies and support RFQ activities as required
·         Keep up to date with new standards and general market information in the Industry
·         Work innovatively and creatively within the group with a particular focus on protecting innovation and IP through the patent process
·         Support PC-based algorithmic Image Signal Processing development, including both scene viewing and scene processing applications
·         Perform research into new video technology, ideas, approaches, etc. to ensure the organisation remains abreast of all leading edge/emerging Vision Technologies
·              Degree in Software Eng., Computer Science, Physics, Electronic Eng. or equivalent
·              Software experience assembly, C, C++ for  8/16/32 bit micro controllers an advantage
·              Experience with Matlab or equivalent ISP software tools an advantage
·              Experience with ARM 9 and DSP development (preferably TI DSP&rsquos) an advantage
·              Experience with Advanced Video Processing, Video Encoding/Decoding, Video Compression M-JPEG, MPEG4 and H.264 an advantage
·              Experience in Imaging & Optics an advantage
·              High degree of innovation and creativity
·              Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
·              High level of motivation and work ethic with an emphasis on practical, hands-on work
